5 New PTE Academic Test Centers Open in Regional Australia

5 New PTE Academic Test Centers Open in Regional Australia

Pearson has opened five new PTE Academic test centers in regional Australia, taking the total number of centers it owns, or partners with a number of university and education providers in the country, to 31.

The new facilities are part of Pearson’s effort to support the Federal Government and universities in attracting international students and skilled migrants to regional areas through the establishment of English language test centers in key locations.

The regional centers are; Geelong, Hobart, Darwin and Cairns as well as a Pearson-owned center in Canberra. All regional centers have opened between August and October.

The company also outlined plans for further expansion into regional areas including Newcastle and Townsville.

Pearson’s head of PTE Academic, Asia Pacific, Sasha Hampson, said:

This growing demand is from an increase in the number of skilled migrant workers, as well as the Federal Government’s Destination Australia Program, launched in March this year. The program is a fantastic way to encourage more students and workers to come to some of the most beautiful parts of Australia, while enjoying a high-quality learning experience.

PTE Academic is approved by the Australian government for all visa applications, and used by all Australian universities to assess international students’ English-language proficiency.

PTE Academic is recognized by thousands of programs in the US, 100% of Australian, New Zealand and Irish universities, more than 98% of UK universities, and 90% of Canadian universities.

PTE Academic assesses listening, reading, speaking, and writing, all via computer, in a single three-hour test session. During the test, you will find 20 different question formats, ranging from multiple choice through to essay writing and interpreting information. Scores range from 10 to 90 and are valid for two years. PTE Academic is administered by British education company Pearson, the world’s biggest education provider.
