If you are considering applying for such an Executive MBA course or you missed the live chat with Albert Meige, programme director of the Leading Innovation in a Digital World EMBA, you may find this summary of the Q&A live session, hosted by PrepAdviser in October 2015, very useful.

Q: What exactly does digital innovation mean? Is the programme focused on IT?

A: By 2030, 50% of the largest companies we know today will have disappeared. Only those who have transformed will survive. They will have to change not only in terms of products and services but also as a whole. Innovation and entrepreneurial mindset are key to transforming and overcoming disruptions.

The Executive MBA “Leading Innovation in a Digital World” is the first MBA programme to train managers how to be among the survivors, how to be commando teams across silos and how to ask the right questions. The programme is not focused on IT but on overcoming the disruptions that are brought about by the digital transformation and also on innovating

The school is called Télécom for historical reasons. Télécom Ecole de Management is the Business School of the Mines-Telecom Institute. The Executive MBA is an MBA. Participants will find all the traditional courses that are found in the MBA, but with a twist: the focus is on innovation and digital transformation. We will talk about digital technologies mainly in respect of the disruption that they bring to the world. For example, if we talk about blockchains, we will consider governance implications.

Q: So are you looking for the next Elon Musk?

A: We are looking for students who are open to new ways of working. In today’s world, all large organisations, irrespective of the industry they operate in, face one question: how can we have the agility of a startup while having tens or even hundreds of thousands of employees? Small, agile, commando-style entities working across silos are the only entities that can survive in a very rapidly changing environment. Students have to learn how to work in that way.

Q: Is there anything in your curriculum giving insights into manufacturing in the digital age? Trends like Industry 4.0, manufacturing as a service, etc.?

A: Of course: Check out my recent articles on Industry 4.0

Q: Are there any internship opportunities?

A: Yes, absolutely. Students have to complete two projects during the programme: one individually and one in a group. This can be done at the company you currently work for or at one of our partner companies.

Q: The average professional experience of students admitted to the programme is 15 years. Can I apply for this programme with only 7 years of professional experience?

A: Yes, you can. What really matters is your motivation and your ability to convince us that you want to change the world and build the company of tomorrow, i.e. be one of the survivors. If you are younger, you can apply. If your application is exceptional, you will be admitted.

Q: How much does the Télécom EMBA cost?

A: The programme costs EUR 40,000. We offer a number of scholarships that can help reduce the overall cost.

Q: What does the application process look like and what are the financing options? Can I take a loan?

A: You can submit your application on the school’s website http://www.telecom-em.eu/en/content/applying-our-executive-mba and, after that, you may be invited for an interview with the director of the programme. The school offers scholarships and, in addition, you can also get help from a partner bank. Télécom Ecole de Management can also help you negotiate with your employer.

Q: What are the requirements for the women's scholarships?

A: You apply for scholarships at the same time as you apply for the EMBA programme. It is the same jury that decides on both your application and the scholarship.

Q: Are all the professors French?

A: The Executive MBA is international: international participants (although mostly Paris-based), international professors and speakers, and international learning expeditions (US, Europe and Asia).

Q: Does Télécom Ecole de Management offer distance learning or blended programmes?

A: The school is currently looking into the possibility of launching blended programmes.

Q: How do you see the place of MOOCs in the new learning environment? Do you plan to launch some MOOCs to promote your programme?

A: MOOCs are already being offered by the Mines-Telecom Institute (the group of schools Télécom Ecole de Management belongs to).

Q: How does this programmer differ from the EMBA course at Rotterdam School of Management?

A: We are focusing on both innovation and digital transformation. In other words, we give all the elements that our participants need to understand the massive disruptive trends that are currently reshaping the world, as well as the tools to ask themselves the right questions when designing their innovative organisation.
