The immersive 12-month program is designed for graduates with a quantitative background who want to combine a detailed knowledge of data analytics with the ability to translate big data into bold visions and profit-maximizing business strategy. The launch of the degree reflects a general trend among Masters and MBA programs towards providing students with relevant data- and tech-related skills.
Tolga Tezcan, Associate Professor of Management Science and Operations at LBS, who will teach on the program, clarified:
There is huge demand from the top recruiters for managers who are not only data literate, but who also have the vision to see how big data can be used to create real competitive edge, product or service transformation. That’s why we’re combining subjects like machine learning and data visualization with organizational behavior.
The curriculum will combine management training in strategy, finance and economics with a more practical focus on developing programming capabilities in students. Subjects revealed as part of the program curriculum include Data Analytics, Applied Statistics, Data Visualization and Storytelling, Data Management, Digital Marketing, Data Science for Business, Machine Learning for Big Data, and Decision Technology.
Participants will also have the opportunity to learn more about performing in teams, while also having access to a wide variety of electives and participating in a Global Immersion Field Trip.
Applicants must have a strong degree in a quantitative subject such as Engineering, Math and Sciences, Computing, Economics, Accounting, Finance or Business and Management. Alternatively, candidates should be able to demonstrate clear proof of their quantitative ability.
As well as providing the standard documentation required by LBS, such as a completed application form, application essays, CV/resume, etc., applicants will need to take either the GMAT or GRE prior to submitting an application. No minimum score is required but the institution recommends that candidates apply with a GMAT score of 600 or above.
In addition, people whose native language is not English, or have not been studying fully in English or living in an English-speaking country, should submit an English proficiency test score such IELTS or TOEFL.
The first intake of the Masters in Analytics and Management program will start in August 2019 with tuition fees amounting to GBP 33,500.
